Industry Day

PROFES’19 will host an Industry (Half-)Day on Wednesday afternoon. Its purpose is two-fold. On the one hand, to give the opportunity to interested companies to present some aspect of their work (way of working, a concrete product, etc.) related to the topics of the conference. On the other hand, to put in contact academics and practitioners that may be interested in share experiences and look for synergies and even concrete collaborations.

Abstracts:

Alessandra Bagnato (Softeam). The Modelio Tool as Support in the Software Development Process

The Softeam (https://www.softeamgroup.fr/en/)’s Modelio Tool allows Software and Systems Modeling increasing the efficiency of the development process and improving communication between the various experts in the company. In our talk we will present our current work and we will present modelling examples of Cyber-physical System (CPS) deriving from the European project H2020 CPSwarm (https://www.cpswarm.eu/).

Pieter Bas, Josep Burgaya (skud.ia). Data-driven Technical Debt Management

Skuld aims to provide development teams with the most innovative and impactful technologies for technical debt detection and resolution. In our talk we will present our current work and our technological roadmap for data based refactoring decision making

Jari Partanen (Bittium). Quality-Aware Follow-up and Prediction of Performance with Help of Q-Rapids Solution – Case Bittium

The Bittium (www.bittium.com) case focuses to present the case how Bittium has been developing during the Q-Rapids project (https://www.q-rapids.eu/ ) further from the earlier adapted Lean and Agile Way of Working (WoW). The talk focuses on summarizing the anticipated challenges, the developed models and the approach and benefits of Q-Rapids solution (https://www.q-rapids.eu/download) . The results of the Q-Rapids utilization are shared to highlight the potentials for the development of the non-functional requirements management from the perspective of Bittium.

Victor Muntes (Beawre). Converting Risks into Opportunities, Open Challenges in Risk Control

New emerging digital markets are flourishing and businesses will be continuously adapting to new technologies. In this context, poor risk management together with a reactive strategy usually forces companies to continuously re-factor application architectures to improve software quality and security, incurring high re-implementation costs. Besides, there is a general trend for regulations and standards to move towards risk-based approaches. The main challenge is to guarantee continuous risk control. In this talk, we will explore some of the relevant challenges to achieve effective risk management, and some industrial example on how this is achieved through Beawre’s technology.

Isaac Álvarez (Sogeti Spain). SogetiLabs Spain, Value in the Making.

Sogeti Spain, as one of the key players of the IT industry, takes innovation as an essential part of their DNA. For this reason, Sogeti has their own R+D department, SogetiLabs, in which more than 20 professionals research and develop ideas that becomes solutions for several customers. In this talk we will present why this team has become a reference in the industry.

Xavier Franch (UPC). XarxEsCat: Catalan Network of Software Engineers

The talk will present XarxEsCat, its main objectives, planned activities and expected outcomes.
